USB Type-C Male to USB 3.0 A Female Adapter OTG Cable

If you have adopted the new 2015 MacBook then this cable is a must! It allows attaching USB 3.0 and older USB devices to the 2015 MacBook. At the time of posting this, there are very few devices with a USB-C connector, so this USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter is a must. I found the build quality to be good and I like the black color that I chose. I like how it’s so short and light. That makes throwing it in my backpack along with my 2015 MacBook hassle-free.

Remember the days when we’d go through a new charger per year because the Micro USB jack/port was too fragile and would go bad and wobbly? Remember the fun times we had leaning the phone in precarious positions just so it could stay plugged? Oh, right….that wasn’t fun at all. Remember how you’d ALWAYS get the wrong side facing up on the first try?

Well, help is on the way, because USB Type C is the new standard, and will eventually be the one connector to rule them all as soon as everything catches up. For example, the latest Macbooks only have USB-C as charging ports. And why is this exciting? Well,

1. The jacks are symmetrical, so it doesnt matter which side faces up. Freedom!!!

2. Having one industry standard means that the user won’t have to tote around so many different cables and adapters for different devices, USB-C will handle charging, connecting peripherals and other devices, etc. Goodbye, proprietary charger connectors (ahem.. I’m looking at you, Apple Lightning.)

3. Type C connectors and 3.0/3.1 cables deliver more power/speed, which means more options for users.

4. And, since devices won’t need to have so many different ports crammed inside, they can become less bulky/thinner, which is a plus.

But back to this product….So I was hunting for backup USB-C to USB-A’s and had the opportunity to try these out for free in exchange for a candid review. The 2-pack arrived neatly bundled in normal retail packaging (versus sketchy unmarked plastic bags…) and the cables were in pristine condition. I was thrilled to find a 2-pack—–I wanted two identical lengths, so I’d never have to guess, and would always have a spare. One meter is a convenient length—any longer and everything gets tangled up too easily. The cables have a slightly larger diameter than my other ones—so they feel pretty sturdy. When I tested them on my portable power bank, the connectors plugged in crisply and firmly. You can get inexpensive adapters if you have a device that doesn’t use USB Type C (e.g. my old Android phone, whose charger crapped out long ago); USB Type C 3.0/3.1 cables are backward compatible with all other USB types/versions that came before, as long as you have the right adapter.

This cable adapter is well made, sturdy and a bit bulkier than we are used to. It has gold plating design and the cord seems to be of high quality. It’s portable, delivers great signal at a high speed stability. It comes in a 100% recycled box.
